Fashion Journalist & Clothes Show Live Education Ambassador

After studying graphic design at Central Saint Martins, Caryn Franklin began her career in fashion at i-D magazine working on layouts and picking up photos shot ‘straight up’ from the street. She eventually found her calling in commentating and began co-editing fashion for i-D in the eighties.

Franklin had a twelve-year stint as presenter of the BBC’s ‘Clothes Show’ and started working as compere of ‘Clothes Show Live’. Other programmes she has hosted over the years as a commentator include ‘The Frock’ and ‘Roll Years’, ‘Style Academy’ and ‘Style Bible’.

Franklin went on to produce documentaries on fashion designers such as Agnès b, Philip Treacy, Vivienne Westwood and Matthew Williamson. In addition to writing for various international publications, Franklin has authored books on fashion including ‘How To Look Good’ and ‘Woman In The Mirror’. She also founded Brilliant Productions Ltd with Jane Galpin, which hosts events such as Graduate Fashion Week and Clothes Show Love. In addition, Franklin has worked as co-chair of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer and is patron of the Eating Disorders Association (Beat).

Franklin started the award-winning initiative All Walks Beyond The Catwalk with Debra Bourne and model Erin O’Connor in 2009 to change the way fashion is taught in colleges.
